Southport and Ainsdale

Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club known locally as S and A is a Championship Course situated directly across the railway line from it's famous neighbour Hillside Golf Club.

A wayward shot from Southport and Ainsdale or Hillside can often end up with the ball in each other's fairways. Royal Birkdale golf club is also an illustrious neighbour and it's famous links can be easily viewed from Southport and Ainsdale.

The golf course is set amongst tall sandhills and is a real but very fair challenge for golfers of all standards. The course was designed by the famous course designer James Braid and has hosted two Ryder Cups in 1933 and 1937. It has also hosted the British Ladies Open and the British Amateur. Whenever the British Open is held at Royal Birkdale, S and A is always used as an Open Qualifier.

Other famous neighbours within a very short drive are Formby Golf Club and West Lancashire Golf Club. Southport and Ainsdale, along with all these other courses mentioned is always found every year in a prestigious golf magazine's top 100 UK golf courses.

After a testing but very enjoyable round of golf on this superb Championship Course, you can relax and enjoy the ambience of the recently refurbished clubhouse where the catering is of a very high standard and you will be made very welcome by the members of the club.

Golf Southport definitely recommends that you include Southport and Ainsdale as part of any golf holidays in Southport and after experiencing the course, you will definitely want to return.

Golf Southport Tours & Golf Holidays - Testimonials

"We were all delighted with the trip. Used restaurant Auberge a couple of times and liked it. We also met John Smith in the bar of the hotel and we all had lots of his ale. :) Loved the golf. Asked one of the lads if he would drop a course in order to include S&A and he said no - we should play four days the next time. All in all a wonderful trip."
