The world famous Royal Birkdale does not need any introduction. Host to the British Open Golf Championship on many occasions it was recently voted by a major Golf magazine as the best course in England and the 4th best course in Britain. Venue for the British Masters 2019, Hillside is situated adjacent to Royal Birkdale. It is often remarked that the second nine holes are comparable with any golf course in the world. An Open Qualifier, it is a tough but fair test of golf and with the Railway Line on your left, accuracy off the first tee is essential. Hillside celebrated it's centenary in 2011 and after your round a warm welcome awaits you in the recently refurbished clubhouse. Read More >>
Southport and Ainsdale (S&A as it is known locally) is situated quite close to both Royal Birkdale and Hillside. Indeed some of the holes are only separated from Hillside by the Railway Line. Another Open Qualifier, S&A has hosted many top events including the Ladies British Open. At 6200 yards the course is not long but is still a tough test as the fairways are narrow and bordered by sand dunes. Read More >>

The 18 hole course measures 6955 yards from the Championship tees and has already hosted a few prestigious golf tournaments including events on the Challenge and European Seniors tour.
Sitting alongside its illustrious neighbours, it may not be the biggest or best known golf club in Southport but it can certainly claim to be one of the oldest. It is a delightful 9 hole course and a true test of golf for all levels of handicappers. Surprisingly the alternate tees throughout the course give the impression of playing an 18 hole course and with a total 18 hole length of 6400 yards this is indeed a course of some significance and certainly not one to be underrated.
West Lancashire Golf Club claims fame as the oldest surviving golf club in the County of Lancashire and among the top ten oldest in England. Royal Liverpool golf club has only very recently been welcomed back into the fold as a British Open Venue. The Championship was last played there in 2007 and was won by none other than Tiger Woods. Situated in Heswall on the Wirral Peninsula it is about a 50 minute drive from Southport and a 15 minute drive from Liverpool. A superb pure links course it is high on the playing list of many golf parties. Again, if needed, transport can easily be arranged.
Over the years this outstanding parkland course has been the venue for many British Open Championship qualifiers. It is situated just inland from Southport and is a 20 minute drive from Southport and about 35 minutes from Liverpool. The course can be described as being very fair to all levels of handicaps and is an absolute delight to play with wide fairways and beautifully manicured greens. Golf Southport highly recommends a round on this course.
Once described as “the diamond in the dunes” Wallasey is also known as being the home and origin of the stableford system which is used as a golf scoring system. Situated about 10 minutes from Liverpool city centre it is an Open Qualifier and a serious test of golf - especially when the wind blows!
Situated on the Wirral Peninsula, Caldy is a course with a lot of character. Both the course and the clubhouse enjoy stunning views over the Welsh Hills. It has an unusual mixture of parkland, links and cliff top holes that run alongside the sea and the Wirral Estuary. Golf Southport definitely would recommend this course as part of your golfing holidays in Southport.
Situated very close to it’s illustrious neighbour Royal Lytham, St. Annes Old Links at 6872 yards off the Championship tees is an excellent test of Golf for golfers of every level of handicap. It is a seaside links course with undulating fairways running through the sand dunes and is also used as an Open Qualifier for Royal Lytham St. Annes. Again, if needed, Golf Southport can arrange transport from your hotels in Southport to Lytham St. Annes.

Many thanks for organising such a fabulous and well organised trip for us and I'm sure we'll be in touch in the future to arrange another visit to Southport."

"I just wanted to say another massive thank you for arranging everything for our weekend in Liverpool and the hospitality you showed us throughout our visit. The 30 x Golfers on the trip had such a brilliant time on what was yet another memorable weekend both on and off the course in Merseyside. Both Prenton and Allerton Manor were perfect courses for a large group like ours and it was great to finally play West Derby which was the pick of the bunch."
Nathan ― Rolls-Royce PTF Golf Society - Group of 30
"We are group of eight Austrian golf players and in 2020 we wanted to go to Southport in England to play the beautiful and famous golf-courses of Royal Birkdale, Hillside and S&A. Due to the Corona-pandemic we could not travel to England for two years. This year however, in May 2022 our dream came true. So we want to thank Stewart and his team for supporting us all the time. We really enjoyed our journey very, very much."
Martin ― Visiting Golf Group from Austria, May 2022

We were made to feel incredibly welcome everywhere we went."

"We were all delighted with the trip. Used restaurant Auberge a couple of times and liked it. We also met John Smith in the bar of the hotel and we all had lots of his ale. :) Loved the golf. Asked one of the lads if he would drop a course in order to include S&A and he said no - we should play four days the next time. All in all a wonderful trip."
